Zane

Charles Zane, referred to as “The Mongoose” in most underworld circles on account of the speed and tenacity he ends the lives of people he’s hired to murder. He performs contract killings with stealth, precision, and an uncanny efficiency that’s been compared to Viktor Gorchev in his youth.

Charles was not a born killer, however, as he’s held numerous careers in the past beginning in his early life in the humid, bogland wastes of post-war Louisiana. Starting off as a simple school-teacher, he moved into theatre and began travelling with a group of wandering actors, performing the likes of Shakespeare in different towns and settlements. As the troupe ventured further and further north, Charles began taking on jobs as an exterminator for extra money. Realizing there was more fortune to be found killing oversized pests and mutated wildlife plaguing communities, he left the troupe and continued moving northward, adopting an even more nomadic lifestyle than he previously endured.

His journey eventually led him across the deadlands, and into New Nevada. He arrived in Vegas, and was quick to put his hunting skills to the test by joining the local Vegas Militia. The militia was tasked to cleaning up the final remnants of the android scourge that plagued the city before the fall of Base Cochise. It was during his career in the militia that he met Manco, his soon-to-be partner in crime. As the two served in the same squad, they performed numerous guerilla attacks against the androids inhabiting the sewer systems below Vegas. Charles was trained as a combat medic, learning his way around high-end assault weaponry alongside scalpels and sutures.

As the android remnants began to dwindle, the two decided to move on to greener fields and onto the career as professional bounty-hunters around the Vegas area. Eventually, they fell from grace after a job went wrong, turning instead to wetworks and and contract killing…

Charles Zane and Manco are currently two of the wasteland’s top performers in professional murder. Manco seems to operate as the muscle, being well-versed in martial arts as well as being a physical powerhouse. Charles, on the other hand, relies on stealth and cunning to take his victims apart. They also seem to share an interesting bond, as Manco’s lack of speech doesn’t dissuade Zane from carrying on full-length conversations with the mute hispanic. While most people assume Charlie Zane is the “head” of the operation, due to being the one who deals with clients and does all the talking, the assumption is incorrect. The two operate as partners to the utmost extent.

Despite their underworld notoriety, they move about the criminal social circles in secrecy, killing their targets in well-orchestrated methods that tend to leave people wondering if they were ever involved at all.
