The soldier is the strongest combatant among all the classes in the STEM system. Choosing the soldier as a character specialisation maximises the health of the character, and also increases the Maximum Skill level of the character in all the combat skills and armor skills. The soldier is also quite physically fit, able to climb, swim, and perform acrobatics to some degree. With the exception of Mechanised Armor, a soldier can equip nearly every piece of armor and train to a great degree of proficiency in it. The soldier is also a brilliant leader, able to lead squads efficiently and skillfully. However, the soldier is weak when it comes to other mental tasks.
Stat progression table
Stat | At Level | Max | Max w/ +4 Stat | Max w/ -4 Stat | |
HP | CON | +10 | 400 | 560 | 240 |
MA | INT | +2 | 80 | 240 | 1 |
PA | REF | +10 | 400 | 440 | 240 |
Builds
There are usually two builds of soldier, a melee build and a ranged build. The major stats for a melee build would be STR and REF, while the major stats for a ranged build would possibly be ACC and REF. As with most soldiers, maxing out CON is also a preferable stat to have, however, the large amount of health that a soldier already has does not necessarily mean that this is needed to be done.
Due to the fact that soldiers have a lot of health, a popular class to combine soldier with is with the medic class. However, this could be a bad thing, as the mental progression of the soldier is abnormally slow, it would only be worthwhile doing this if you had +4 IQ. Doing so, however, would reduce the distribution of stats among the other more important stats that you require.
The soldier class is a basic class to take if you require a base amount of skill for combat purposes.
