The dance of death, combat, is oftentimes the best way to train combat skills and gain experience points. At Desolation, we take pride in maiming and killing people in the most gruesome way possible. However, you probably need to have a decent overview in the arts of combat. Here are a list of commonly asked questions.
Know yourself
The first place to start with is to know yourself and the limits of your abilities. Using the <score> command will tell you your health, mental, and physical points, as well as give you the low down on your stats. This will tell you how decent you are at combat.
Know your enemy
The next is to size up your enemy. Information is important! Use the <consider> command to size up your enemy, and find out if they’re likely to kill you or not. It makes no sense to throw yourself up against a killer!
Engaging in combat
Step into the action! Lunge into the fray! Jump into combat by using the <kill> command to massacre your enemies and hear the lamentation of women before you!
Damage in combat
Let’s be serious here. How does damage work?
Basedamage
Well, for starters, your base damage is determined by two things: Your weapon rating and your character’s average total level. If you have no weapon, your unarmed skill is the basis of your weapon rating!
Bonus Damage Roll
Next up is bonus damage. Your bonus damage roll is determined by your ATL, your strength/accuracy stat, your charisma stat, your skill with the weapon, and your current stance.
Target Damage Roll
Then it’s the opponent’s turn! Your adversary will have a bonus damage avoidance roll, determined by their ATL, their reflex stat, their constitution stat, their skill with the armor worn, and their current stance.
Total Damage Roll
The opponent’s roll is deducted from your bonus damage roll, and the result is multiplied to your damage! The minimum bonus damage is 0.71, and there is no upper limit of multiplication! Yet.
Damage Reduction
After all this fun happy times, you have unreduced damage. The damage is sent against your opponent’s armor, and reduced accordingly! Armor reduction of your opponent depends on their skill, reflex stat, constitution stat, stance, and armor type! The most they can reduce is 80% of all incoming damage! That’s massive!
Summary
In summary, Damage = [Basedamage * [(Bonus damage roll - target bonus damage roll) + 0.71] ] - (Damage * Damage Reduction)
Special Moves
Special moves add a further multiplier to unreduced damage! This means they can be reduced by the opponent’s armor! Beware!
Summary
Stay frosty! Train those skills! Level up! Kick ass!
