Malicious Chinaman. Responsible for a lot of crap. Also responsible for a lot of crap screwing up.
Description
This diminuitive man comes in at perhaps a total height of five feet seven inches, perhaps taller if not for the slight hunch that seems to be ever-present in his posture. The man is thin and lanky, with stringly muscles alongside his arms and legs. Despite this, everything about this man gives off the impression of timidness, of low confidence, of fear and paranoia.
Furtive dark brown eyes dark around constantly, roving about the environment, scanning every single sight and sound that there is to offer here. Dark bags hang below the man’s eyes, and several wrinkles, a sign of premature aging, crease the sides of his eyes. A pair of cracked and worn glasses hang precariously atop his nose, magnifying the size of his eyes. His unruly short brown hair awkwardly covers his head, thick in some places and thin in others. Streaks of silvery white hair occasionally line his head in some places, another sign of premature aging. He has a sharp, almost angular nose, complemented by a sharpish chin with a spread of stubble on it. His skin is slightly tanned, from the harsh light of the desert, but still lighter than most peoples in the wastes, indicative that he spends a lot of time indoors.
Over a dirty, stained, dark blue t-shirt, this man wears a Weathered, black leather bomber jacket, a rather stylish article of clothing that really doesn’t seem to fit the particular character of this man. A Jackal’s head is printed on the back of the jacket, and on his right sleeve, the word “RECON” is tagged onto it. His slender legs are clothed by a pair of faded, straight-cut denim jeans, and a holster hangs on his right hip. A shiny pair of leather boots cover his feet, obviously cared for. A leather briefcase is ever present with him, usually clutched in his left hand.
History
Origins
Jason Kerillian Brennan was brought up not too far away from New Nevada, in a city along the Dark Coast, the name and location of, he is not sure anymore. As a young man he was apprenticed to the town pharmacist and chemist, and due to his talent and skill he quickly assumed knowledge and became the best there was to offer in the region that he was based in. However, it is this thirst for knowledge that led him to the path that he walks today.
Phirubel
Discovering a cave-dwelling fungi that he called Phirieliin, he noticed that the rate of recovery for an injury on the plant was remarkable, rapid. Early tests with an isolated extract of the plant showed that when used on living tissue it did regenerate cells by forcing the cells that the chemical was applied to by splitting the cells in two. However, the cell regeneration rate was mutagenic and uncontrolled. It was several years more of testing and experimentations with other chemicals, when Brennan finally managed to stablise the cell regeneration rate, lowering the chances of mutagenic cells to grow. However, one of the unfortunate side effects of the concuction that he had grown, was that it was hallucinogenic, and extremely addictive. Moreover, the forceful splitting of the cells meant that the life of the cells also were shortened, resulting in premature aging.
Escape
To sustain his lifestyle and his experiments, Brennan had taken out a “research grant” (read: restrictive loan) from a local crime syndicate/marauding clan in the area, who was keen on using his discoveries for their own uses. Upon discovering that the chemical, now known as “phirubel”, was extremely addictive, they demanded that he start making the chemical for wholesale use. Afraid of what he had done, especially the effects of this failed chemical that he had made, Brennan decided to make a run for it. He burnt down his laboratory, tried to fake his death, and fled, making his way eastwards.
Survival
Brennan was soon picked up by a paramilitary survival group, keen on making him a field surgeon as he had some of the requisite skills to do so. The shady group decided to send him to the Nevada Medical Association to learn medical skills in their Needles Hospital, not only to train, but to spy on the association. However, Brennan was afraid to go to the hospital as he had heard that it’s Administrator did not like the group that he was associated with. Staying in the city of Needles, one day, Brennan found that he was all alone. The radio network that he used to keep in contact with his group was strangely silent. He had been forgotten.
Current
Brennan is always afraid of his past, keeping an eye out at all times for people who might kidnap him and force him to make production of the drug that he had developed. He tends to attempt to keep a low profile and not attract too much attention to his actions. Due to his timid disposition and his rough training at the hands of the military organisation that he had belonged to, as well as his paranoia, he has been developing mental problems, possibly bipolar disorder, or paranoid schizophrenia. Somehow… he always feels as if he’s being watched.
