Background
Bitterman was born and raised in the town of Needles, a somewhat quiet town, that had it’s problems with fanatic cults. One cult, the Temple of Blood, had been known for comitting murders, and evil usage of an item called the Bloodstaff. Bitterman’s mother was always protective of him, never letting him stray too far from home, fearing her son may become a victim of the Temple. He lived a very sheltered life, hearing only rumors of what was going on in the outside world. Hearing about the Bloodstaff, made him wonder what it was. Exactly how did it kill people, how was it used. It was here that Bitterman’s morbid obsession with death, and violence started to grow.
At the age of 16, Bitterman’s mother saw it fit that he was old enough to leave the house, that he could make a life on his own. Bitterman stumbled into town, like a lost child. His sheltered life had not prepared him for the harsh desolate wasteland. He adapted quickly however, keeping to himself, never making many friends. He first sought after the Temple of Blood. he was heartbroken however, to find the temple in ruins, and everyone dead. He later heard that it was the work of a band of Desert Rangers, who came and took the Bloodstaff from the Temple. Hearing this news, left a bitter feeling in Bitterman’s heart. He had looked up to the Temple of Blood as a boy, and now the Desert Rangers had come and killed them.
Bitterman continued to explore his home town. He came accross an open hole in the Southwest part of town. Hoping to find some loot down there, that someone had left behind, he explored deeper. What he found however, was nothing. It was just a large, empty pit. Somewhat discouraged, he left the sewer, and headed for the Acapulco Club. There in the club, he took part in a few hands of Poker, when an argument broke out over cheating. Soon two men were at each other’s throats, and a fight broke out in the club. The patrons not involved were placing bets on who would win. This gave Bitterman an idea.
Driven by his own lust for violence, he returned to the sewer. He started to clean up the trash hole, moving garbage, and cleaning scum off the walls. He then took some wooden boxes, and fashioned them in a large square. He covered the square in red carpet, and used barbed wire for ropes. He had built himself a boxing ring. There, Bitterman founded the only professional fighting promotion in New Nevada. A place where people could come from all around the Wastelands, to settle disputes and to fight to the death. He called his creation “The Pit”
The early days of “The Pit” were good. He found some old, metal plated belts, and started to hand them out to fighters. It was then, that BItterman started to make friends with a gang, West of Needles, the Badland Originals. Many of the Badlanders became Pit fighters, Sorlag, Spike, Turk, Treis, and others. He soon became close friends with their leader, Devil, and even helped them build a Pit in the basement of their home, Ground Zero.
After a while, however, people began to lose interest in “The Pit.” Somewhat discouraged with his life, and the politics of New Nevada, Bitterman abandoned his home, and his business, and continued explore. He to moved out East, into what was left of New Mexico. What Bitterman found was a land full of nothing but radiation, and gang wars. While in New Mexico, Bitterman became exposed to unhealthy amounts of radiation, that would have killed a normal man. The only side effect he suffered however, was the loss of all of his hair, and a touch of amnesia. Bitterman returned to New Nevada, calling himself Gorre. Without his hair, no one recognized who he was, and he was free to start a new life for himself. But old habits die hard, Gorre took a job refereeing Pit fights, and soon all of his memories returned. He dropped the name Gorre, and over time, he even grew his hair back.
Bitterman spent his days, residing over “The Pit”, signing matches, refereeing fights, and keeping the whole operation in line. Business picked up, and was good for a while. Life was good for Bitterman, he had his friends in the Badland Originals, he had protection from the gang, should he ever need it, and “The Pit” was doing well again. However, history repeats itself, and things started to slow down, again. Matches weren’t being fought, and most importantly, Bitterman stopped making money. He tried everything he knew, signing gimick matches, and having special promotions. Nothing was working however, and “The Pit” continued to get smaller, and smaller. Bitterman tried one last thing, to save his business. He came out and told people, about the situation he was in, how he wasn’t making any money, and he may be forced to close down “The Pit” and move on. He said, however, if matches picked up, he would have a reason to keep it open.
Bitterman started a new tournament, after making that announcement, the King of the Wastes tournament. It all started fine, with plenty of fresh young fighters, getting their first taste of Pit fighting. Slowly, however, things came to a grinding halt. The next match was scheduled to be Andyc vs. Krogg. Days passed, days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into a month. By then, everyone had lost interest, and the match never happened. The tournament never finished.
It was clear then, to Bitterman, that no one was interested in “The Pit” anymore. He was a business man, and his business wasn’t making any money. So he closed up shop, and let “The Pit” die. Distrought over losing his pride and joy, Bitterman found another hobby. Drinking. Now days he can be found in almost any bar, drinking himself into oblivion, and cursing about the ‘good’ ol’ days.
