'Full Name': AndyAge: Mid-to-late twentiesHeight: Short, under 6'Weight: Lean, muscular buildHair Colour: BrownEye Color: BlueAffiliation: Independent/Sindikat/RangersOrigin: California
Roaming half-crazy warrior. Former leader of the Desert Rangers, once loosely affiliated with the Sindikat and at one point working with Bryan Drake, he currently has no known connections. He was also one of the more prominent fighters in The Pit. Occasionally when the Rangers are in political trouble (which they frequently are), he steps in and provides stewardship until matters are stabilised.
Description
Relatively short, at 5'8" tall, and of a medium build, 150lbs of mass creating little in the way of bulk, Andrew has little in the way of height or size to generate an imposing figure. Wiry muscle covers the young man’s body, giving him an extremely muscled look, without the bulk often associated with muscular figures. The lack of bulk, combined with the indicated muscle power, suggests that this person has both speed and power at his disposal. The all-round presence of toned body suggests not only harsh and constant training methods, but also well-planned ones. As with any true dweller of the desert, his skin is somewhat tanned, a slight olive colour, thanks to the hold the sun grips over the desert in the day. A few minor scars dot across his chest and stomach, and old burn scars mark his wrists, slightly.
A smooth, round jaw hangs at the bottom of his face, while devoid of fat, gives him a rather young look, whereas the premature aging brought about be post-apocalyptic conditions would give him a face that looks to be around the mid-to-late twenties. Actually in his mid-twenties, Andrew has the fully-grown body of an adult reaching his physical prime. Light stubble covers his chin, probably due to a lack of chances to shave. His thin lips, and small nose make him look mostly unremarkable. His moderately sized eyes are a pure ultramarine in colour, and have slightly dilated pupils, perhaps giving the man improved low-light vision. His brown hair is cut very short, almost shaved in appearance, and his ears lie flat back against his head.
The man is dressed with a certain style, and entirely in black. A black shirt covers his torso, and any body armor he is wearing, and is tucking into a pair of pants of the same colour. A pair of dulled black shoes cover his feet, shine long lost to the dusty desert floors. A belt seems to be worn with the pants, facilitating the carrying of easily accessible weaponry. A long black coat that runs all the way down to just above his ankles, is worn in order to obscure what the belt carries, although, should it drift back in the wind, or from movement, it reveals a strange black object, long and slightly curved, hanging from his belt on the left, along with a holstered bi-tone pistol and a knife, tucked away with the pistol, on the right. The man’s sense of dress lacks any marks or insignia of the groups in New Nevada, with no clues as to his affiliations, if any.
Background
Andy refuses to reveal much of his past to anyone, even those closest to him can only guess at most of his past. Even his last name is a well-kept secret. Born somewhere in California, his parents were merchants who travelled over North and central California. Due to the inevitable attacks by raiders, he learned to fight hand-to-hand at a very young age. His father is an intelligent man, skilled with various forms of technology, something Andy has only limited skill in (Usually much to his frustration when he knows what something is, but doesn’t know how it works, or how to use it). His mother was a skilled martial artist, a trait passed on down by her family, who could use most types of weapon to a respectable degree. She taught Andy the martial arts he practices, and it was she who passed on her heirloom katana to him. After travelling for the first dozen or so years on his life, he settled down with his parents in a small village, which has never really been named. Andy continued to practice his arts and found that he was becoming stronger and more skilled as he came closer to adulthood, skills that were tested against another youth in the village. The youth was a bully, used to terrorizing the few local kids, but Andy was his physical match and more than prepared to fight back. After a couple of years, their feud exploded into regular bouts of fighting over the smallest of reasons. The two, now men, left the village after this. Andy drifted across the wastelands, testing his skills against local ‘prizefighters’ or the occasional fool picking a fight. Eventually, he made his way to New Nevada, and as he reached Las Vegas, he came across the thing that kept him there: He heard about a fighting promotion that was just starting up. The Pit.
Andy was involved in the Pit for it’s whole existence, taking part in fights, tournaments, and held every title at one stage or another. He never quite mastered the art of boxing, never feeling entirely comfortable with the restrictions the sport applied to his wasteland-honed skills. He took part in the original Pit tournament, and eventually beat the paper champion holding the belt soon after, becoming the first person to take the belt in a fight. Later on, he was beaten by Treis, but took his title back in a rematch and then held it for some time. He managed to avoid the bulk of the conflict between the Rangers and Badlanders that occurred over this time. Arctic Fox beat him after this ‘war’ had calmed down, and Andy immediately took part in the Dance in the Dope Hat tournament, taking Fox’s place, for the Hardcore title. His opponents laid to waste, he became the first hardcore champion, holding the title during the period when Bitterman disappeared. During this time, he worked with Dagg in unsuccessful attempts to rescue the amnesia-suffering Arctic Fox, although he fostered a strong friendship with Dagg and close ties to the Desert Rangers. He eventually forfeited the Hardcore title when he defeated Arctic Fox for the New Nevada Championship.
He later took part in the battle that was created around Treis and Soleil, though he had little impact on the battle, except to watch several friends and enemies die. Later on, he lost the New Nevada championship in a bar fight against Arctic Fox. While in Ground Zero, Andy is present as Rynthas attacks Dagg’s clone. However, Rynthas leaves before administering a final blow. Andy then revealed his disgust for the clone, his dead friend having been replaced by the derranged maniac, shooting him in the head from point blank range. Soon after this, Andy reaches the Ranger Center, but is immediately thrust into a tense situation with a soldier looking for Dagg. However, after being told of Dagg’s death, he then demands to meet the new leader of the Rangers, appearing a threat to nearby onlookers. Andy falsely declared himself new leader of the Rangers, taking the holotape the soldier was carrying, in order to ease the situation, and prevent the skittish soldier hostilities. Fate would have it, that with the support of several others, Andy was, unintentionally, at first, touted as the new leader of the Desert Rangers. He eventually decided to fill the shoes left by Dagg, and help repair damage caused by the clones.
During his time in charge of the Rangers, Andy looked to the traditions of the US Army Engineers who originally took over the prison that became the Ranger Center. He appreciated the more military side of the Ranger’s history, rather than the engineering focus of the original company who founded the Rangers. He formalised many old military traditions, in particular the use of old US Army ranks, and being organising the Rangers into a paramilitary force. His leadership of the Rangers wasn’t unanimously supported, however, and this manifested in a power struggle between Andy and Arctic Fox, who wanted the leadership for himself. He was then involved in conflicts with the United States Marine Corps, who sought to dominate the wastes, and the Badland Originals who were supporting Arctic Fox. In the aftermath of a marine attack, the Badlanders launched a mostly-political attack, seizing the Ranger Center while the Ranger command was moving temporarily to a northern outpost. Using their control of the Ranger Center, the Badlanders provided support for the Rangers, growing Arctic Fox’s support and eventually forcing Andy to resign from his post, allowing Arctic Fox to assume control officially.
Since his resignation from the Rangers, Andy has been out of the limelight. Wandering New Nevada, almost as an extra scout for the Rangers, passing on information useful to his old faction. He was unable to complete his true goal, however; A complete analysis of the marines numbers, and technology. He spent a great deal of time with a number of other mostly independent people, such as Trujillo and Jonster. It was a turbulent time for the Ranger’s leadership, as always, and Andy was a witness to the death of Arctic Fox in a fight in one of the old Pits. Although the friendship they had had been all but crushed since Fox’s amnesia, and the power struggle, Andy was shocked at Fox’s death. The Ranger’s new leader had turned to more pacifistic ways, letting his hand-to-hand skills deteriorate, which lead to his death.
Shortly after see that a new Ranger leader had been installed, he temporarily left New Nevada, taking the long trip back to California. When he returned, Andy found New Nevada changed. The Rangers sporting another new leader and several new power groups had sprung up. He was then offered a position in the re-organizing Sindikat, which he took up, joining the group in secret. In the time since his return, things were quiet, until the most recent event. He was present at the burning of Highpool, pulling a Ranger from the burning camp, and barely making it to safety. He also spent a great deal of time in the company of a fellow ex-Ranger, Bryan Drake, both men sharing a certain jaded fondness for the Rangers. In recent times, Andy has been prone to disappearing from New Nevada for long periods of time. His affiliations have weakened and many of his old friends and allies have disappeared, leaving Andy as mostly the lone wanderer he was when he original came to Nevada, although he does retain some ties.
